To accelerate the integration of 5G and medical treatment in poor areas and effectively solve the problems existing in people's medical treatment and medicine purchase in remote and poverty-stricken areas. On July 31, Sichuan AOSSCI Technology, Health Commission of Sichuan Province, and China Telecom Sichuan Branch jointly launched the first national medicine delivery emergency drill in Cliff Village, Zhaojue County, Liangshan Prefecture.
The Cliff Village is situated on a cliff of 1,400m height. Villagers have been climbing on vines or ladders for hundreds of years. It takes at least four hours for ordinary people to climb one way and there is the possibility of falling off the cliff. Nowadays, although the government supports the construction of iron ladders and cableways, the inconvenience brought by the complex terrain to people's medical needs is still hard to hide.
Moreover, if the multi-rotor UAV is used to deliver medicines, it can only achieve short-distance delivery from the foot to the hill, and its wind resistance and endurance performance are relatively limited.
Shorter delivery time
Nowadays, AOSSCI UAV can achieve 280KM long-distance flight, which solves the time-consuming problem of complex terrain and environment in mountainous areas.
Although there was only 32 kilometers between the take-off and landing points of this flight, because of the rugged mountain road and the difficulty of climbing, rescuers had to drive from the take-off point to the foot of the mountain and then walked up the mountain. It took 4 hours using traditional rescue methods. However, the UAV only used 15minutes to complete a flight.
Steady flight
From Zhaojue to Cliff Village, dangerous situations such as heavy rain, fog, rockfall and small landslides occur from time to time.
The X-Swift UAV overcame severe weather conditions because of its excellent aerodynamic design and ultra-long endurance. Four take-off and landing flight tests were carried out with a total of 84 kilometers range
Real-time video transmission
In this drill, X-Swift used 5G network for video transmission, and worked with the orthographic camera to perceive the actual situation of Cliff Village comprehensively, and finally it delivered a satellite telephone of China Telecom Tiantong-1 and some emergency medicines successfully.
After the satellite telephone had been delivered, the local villager communicated with the command center via the satellite telephone immediately and successfully.
During the drill, the team members spent 3.5 hours climbing a 4.5 kilometers cliff ladder with a vertical height difference of 800 meters, to carry out field survey, and route planning, opening up the first UAV route for local villagers.
Thereafter, in case of a sudden emergency, the route can be activated immediately after the approval of the air traffic control department and the filing of the public security department.
In the future, we will cooperate with more medical institutions to explore 5G+AI application and provide the most timely and appropriate treatment plans for the people in poor areas.
